Cap Rocat
I recently had the pleasure of spending the week at Cap Rocat in Mallorca. Set in a reconstructed 19th-century fortress overlooking the magnificent Bay of Palma, the hotel strikes the perfect balance of understated elegance. Spanish architect Antonio Obrador, the mastermind behind the project, was faced with stringent restrictions because the building was listed as a Cultural Heritage Site and Protected Natural Area. Although this may have created a few design dilemmas, I think it ultimately helped in creating a truly authentic experience.

DLV Designs
I recently discovered DLV, a furniture company based out of Red Hook, Brooklyn. Originally their Zephyr towel bar, based on designs found on vintage ocean liners, caught my eye. However, after looking into the company further I discovered they also have exquisitely crafted furniture pieces. They offer a unique assortment of finishes, such as Coquille d'oeuf (eggshell), Verre Eglomise, polished piano lacquer, hand-rubbed oils, plates and patinas.

Round Hill Hotel
I recently returned from a fabulous trip to the Round Hill Hotel in Jamaica. This former sugar and coconut plantation opened in 1953 as a complex of luxury cottages, hosting celebrities like the Kennedy's and Paul Newman. The modern day rooms were designed by Ralph Lauren but they still retained all of their original classic charm. They each have four poster beds, large soaking tubs and spectacular water views. The British influence can still be felt in the high tea that was served every day. The scones and rum balls were a divine way to cap off the afternoon.

Bar Luce
This weekend marks the opening of Bar Luce, in the new art and culture complex Fondazione Prada in Milan. It is my favorite director Wes Anderson's first permanent interior project. Staying true to his signature style the cafe features color block Formica tables, whimsical wallpaper, a graphic water closet and Steve Zissou themed pinball machines. Of course the fonts used through out the cafe are perfectly on point as well.
When describing the design Anderson was quoted as saying," While I do think it would make a pretty good movie set I think it would be an even better place to write a movie. I tried to make a bar I would want to spend my own non-fictional afternoons in."

New England Home May/June 2015
It was a pleasure to be asked by New England Home to design their Shopping Bag page for their May/June 2015. I selected some of my favorite items from Charles Spada, Webster and Company, and Holland & Sherry.

The Rug Company + Rodarte
The Rug Company does a wonderful job merging fashion and interiors by establishing interesting collaborations. In their latest pairing Laura and Kate Mulleavy, the designers behind Rodarte, played around with their love of 3-D textures. Echoing some of their clothings most memorable patterns they pulled motifs from ivy, marble and porcelain to create a collection full of whimsy.
